The New Creature

Updated: Jul 16, 2019

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If any man be in Christ: If Jesus Christ dwells within us, we are in Christ!

Jesus said in John 15:1-11

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

He is a new creature: A new creature is simply what it means… NEW! Paul put it this way in Colossians 3:1-11

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

To be a new creature means that the old creature is dead!

To be a new creature means that our sins past and future are forgiven!

To be a new creature means that we are citizens of a New Kingdom!

To be a new creature means that we have a new relationship!

To be a new creature means that we have a new position!

To be a new creature means that we have a new purpose!

To be a new creature means that since we are in Christ all things are possible!

When we get to the point that we truly believe these statements we will accomplish God’s perfect will in our lives. Our lack of faith hinders us from believing these seven statements. But, when we realize that we truly are a New Creature we will grow bolder in our faith, we will fear less, and have more joy; because we will understand better the mind of Christ.

Vs.16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Vs. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Old things are passed away: The New Creature must put off the old things so that we may grow in Christ.

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Behold, all things are become new: The meaning of the word new, is simply; being Different from the former or the old.

In These passages it is put another way; we are a peculiar people.

pe·cu·liar

1. Not ordinary or usual; odd or strange:

2. Belonging distinctively or primarily to one person, group, or kind; special or unique:

3. A privilege or property that is exclusively one's own.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;

avouch

1. To affirm

2. To corroborate or confirm; vouch for:

3. To accept responsibility for; acknowledge.

4. To avow; confess.

For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a New Creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Remember in Christ you are a New Creature!
